The Celtic Cultures Alliance of the Quad Cities is proudly hosting the Celtic Festival and Highland Games of the Quad Cities to honor, celebrate and educate about Celtic traditions with the community and surrounding areas. Thank you for expressing an interest in serving as one of our volunteers. The CCA of the QC appreciate all of your help. You are the reason our Festival and Games will be a success. Volunteers must 16 years old or older. (Volunteers may be younger with parental permission and supervision)

How to Volunteer

  1. Choose a time that will best meet your schedule and a duty preference (see duties page). 
    1. Please schedule a minimum shift time of three (3) hours. 
    2. You can schedule for more than one shift.
  2. Complete the Volunteer Request Form and e-mail it back to Stephanie. Please return the information by August 15 th, the sooner the better.THERE WILL BE NO NEW VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF THE FESTIVAL & GAMES.
  3. You will receive a confirmation notice detailing your shift time, where to check in and other pertinent information by September 10th. If you do not hear back from me by then, please e-mail Stephanie!! 
  4. Bring your signed Volunteer Agreement Form with you when you arrive at the Volunteer Booth to check in for your shift.

Volunteer Positions

Position Descriptions

 

Volunteer Job Title: Set-up &/Tear-down Crew (free to help on both days)

Dates needed: Set-up Crew is September  20 & 21 Tear-down Crew is September 22

Brief description: Help with all aspects of preparing venue (Centennial Park) for the Festival and Games. Help with all aspects of tear-down after the event.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: Help to assemble/disassemble small platforms, large stages, canopies, tents, folding tables, chairs, signs and flags.

Requirements of position: Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand on feet for extended periods. Reasonable physical condition recommended. 

Volunteer Job Title: Beer Tent Attendants

Dates needed: September 21

Brief description: Work in teams to help check ID’s, sell beverages, and help keep area tidy.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: Check ID’s, fulfill customers order, reliably & responsibly handle money, and make change.

Requirements of position: Must be 21 years of age. 

Volunteer Job Title: Kids’ Activities

Dates needed: September 21 Brief description: Help with face painting, shields & swords, attend waiting children.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: Help to paint images on faces, cutting out shields & swords for children to decorate, keep waiting children in order/line.

Requirements of position: Some skill with art needed for face painting, patience with repetitive motion needed for cutting and a love for kids for all. 

Volunteer Job Title: Merchandise Tent Attendants

Dates needed: September 21

Brief description: Work in teams to help customers, sell products, and help keep area tidy.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: Fulfill customers order, reliably & responsibly handle money, and make change.

Volunteer Job Title: EMT/Paramedic

Dates needed: September 21

Brief description: Work in ensure public safety.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: Assist anyone who may be injured, in distress, or seems to be in need of medical help.

Requirements of position: Trained and licensed with the State of Iowa, please.

Volunteer Job Title: Raffle/Donation Tent Attendants

Dates needed: September 21

Brief description: Work in teams to help with donations, selling tickets and fund raising books.

Commitment length: 3 hour minimum to all day

Key tasks & responsibilities: fulfill customers donation request, log donation, give receipts, distribute raffle tickets, sell dining tour books, reliably & responsibly handle money, and make change.

Requirements of position: Legible handwriting helpful.
